Listening for signals from the distant Universe

Earlier this month, the network of ground-based gravitational wave detectors formed by the collaboration of LIGO-Livingston, LIGO-Hanford, Virgo and KAGRA (LVK) reported, in a series of two papers, their findings on isotropic backgrounds and on signals from cosmic strings. I have had the chance to work on the latter for several months, and to be part of the pannel for the associated LVK webinar. You may find a recording of this webinar down below.
