Listening for signals from the distant Universe
Earlier this month, the network of ground-based gravitational wave detectors formed by the collaboration of LIGO-Livingston, LIGO-Hanford, Virgo and KAGRA (LVK) reported, in a series of two papers, their findings on isotropic backgrounds and on signals from cosmic strings.
